Sewvivor 3 Quilters Edition: The Winner

This post is a little late, as the winner was announced a week ago, my only defence is that September snowballed in to a very busy month for me, ending in my 6 year old’s birthday party. Things have calmed down a little now and I am back on the blog!

So, who is the winner of Sewvivor 3 I here you cry (although you probably got bored of waiting for me to tell you and have already looked for yourself), big congratulations to Nicole from Snips Snippets.

The Winning Quilt

Nicole has called this very unique creation carousel, the colours certainly have all the fun of the fair! Have a read of her blog to find out how she made this quilt, there are some really interesting design details such as the plus signs and although it does not show up well in this photo, there are some very pretty starburst designs that have been hand quilted.

To find out more about Nicole and the other runners up, and to get a round up of all the entries made throughout the course of the competition, head over to Rach H’s blog FamilyEverAfterblog.

Sew-vivor 3: The quilted bag challenge results are out

The Sew-vivor 3: Quilters Edition is now half way through with two challenges completed. The results for the quilted bag challenge is out today and I am pleased to say that Jade from Stitch Mischief is still in!

Have a look at my favourite quilted bag entries here.

Here is Jade’s quilted bag entry for you to admire.

Jade was one of my favourite 3 from the top 16 contestants. There are now just 5 contestants left in the competition and two more rounds to go. Next weeks challenge is Hexies, I can’t wait to see what they come up with.

Sew-vivor 3 Quilters Edition: The Quilted Bag Challenge

I missed posting my Sew-vivor3 update last week.

We have had the first round, The Nautical Challenge, where two of my fave from the top 16 were knocked out, including my favourite entry for the nautical challenge from Kerry at Penny Dog Patchwork. Kerry made a great homage to Billy Bass, but perhaps this did not translate internationally (Penny is British, as am I). Do take a look at it and see what you think, was she robbed?!

Billy Bass by Penny Dog PatchworkIt even plays music when you push the button! Click here  to find out how Kerry made Billy.

This weeks challenge is the quilted bag, the entries are in at the Family Ever After Blog. Continue reading

…hmm…this is not the work in progress shot, this is actually how the quilt looks right now. My original blog on sewvivor was called ‘are you up for a quilting challenge’, clearly I am not.

Perhaps it looks better close up…
